This evidential gap is particularly important because claims about recovered alien technology are fundamentally different from reports of unidentified objects in the sky. How official investigations have responded
The US Department of Defense’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) was specifically tasked with examining historical allegations involving hidden UAP programmes, including crash retrieval and reverse engineering.
Its 2024 Historical Record Report concluded that it found no empirical evidence that any US government investigation or officially identified programme had recovered extraterrestrial technology or operated a secret reverse-engineering effort involving non-human craft. What evidence would make the claims verifiable

What the modern crash claims contribute to the Roswell debate
Modern crash-retrieval allegations matter because they provide the strongest contemporary link between present-day UAP controversies and Roswell’s enduring narrative.
